People are complaining pop culture ruined their names
Twitter users are sharing the TV shows, songs, movie titles and everyday items that make their life a misery – all because they contain their first name.
Jesse McLaren, a TV writer, started the social media conversation after complaining how people constantly reference the song ‘Jessie’s Girl’, by Australian singer Rick Springfield, in relation to her.
The tweet soon went viral, prompting thousands of responses as people weighed in on their own personal pop culture torment.

People jumping on the bandwagon included a woman named Ella, who was plagued by Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ song (with its infectious “Ella, ella, ella” refrain).
Then there was Caroline, plagued by Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’, and Stacy, who suffered following the Fountains of Wayne hit ‘Stacey’s Mum’.

What more, there’s the person who gave their daughter the middle name “Alexa”, which unfortunately now reminds people of the voice-activated technology.

Earlier this week, another writer - Emily Heller, who writes for the HBO series Barry – went viral after she asked her followers to design her a fake Emmys outfit.

Emily Heller, who writes for the HBO series Barry, was unable to showcase her outfit on the red carpet at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night because she “didn’t have time to walk the press line”, she told her Twitter followers.
Instead, she shared a photograph of herself in a one-colour green bodysuit in front of a backdrop that said “Emilys” instead of “Emmys”, and asked people to dress her themselves.
