We’re all for trying out new beauty trends here in the Yahoo Lifestyle office.

But Made in Chelsea star Ashley James has divided opinion with the shiny foil-like red lip transfer she wore at the Diet Coke 30th anniversary party last night.

MIC newcomer Ashley wore a red lip temporary tattoo that from a distance looked like glossy red lipstick.

But a closer look reveals Cheska Hull’s best mate is in fact wearing a red metallic lip transfer.

Lip tattoos are designed to last all night but perhaps because of all that drinking (Diet Coke of course) Ashley wasn’t so lucky. Hers appears to have started peeling as she smiled for photographers prior to the party.

The Made in Chelsea star posed confidently on the red carpet, teaming her Coca-Cola red lip transfer with a cobalt blue gown.

But it seems she either had a change of heart or the lip transfer came off entirely, as a picture posted inside the venue reveals she had bare lips.

Ashley posed with DJ Sarah-Jane Crawford but this time her lips were completely naked.

It’s not the first time stars have donned lip transfers, as Jessie J and Jersey Shore star Snooki have also worn them in the past.

But it was Kim Kardashian and Kelly Rowland who put lip transfers on the map.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim sported a checkerboard style lip tattoo, while former X Factor judge Kelly donned a fierce leopard print design.
