POLICE are investigating after reports that a woman was raped in Quarry Bank.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries after the incident was reported to have happened in New Street on Wednesday (September 20) just after 9.30pm.

Members of the public have spoken of their shock on social media and urged people to be vigilant.

Police have released few details of the incident but a spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed: "We’re investigating following a report of a rape, which occurred off New Street, Quarry Bank, just after 9.30pm on Wednesday September 20.

"Officers are still conducting enquiries at the scene and we’re upping patrols in the area. We know how upsetting these incidents are for residents and they can stop and talk to us if they need reassurance or want some advice.
