Police Charge Man for Spitting On and Racially Abusing Woman in Calgary
Calgary Police charged a 31-year-old man after he was filmed spitting and racially abusing a woman riding a skateboard on July 18.
Police allege Justin Riaz Williams spat on at least three people and used racial slurs. It’s alleged a witness confronted Williams, who in turn threatened the witness with a weapon.
Williams was charged with three counts of assault and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
The incident is also being investigated by the Hate Crimes Coordinator.
Instagram user Braeden Riehl – who caught the incident on camera – said he and his girlfriend were outraged by the event. Riehl said they received a large number of “messages of support” the day after uploading the video. Credit: braedenriehl via Storyful
