Poldark's Aidan Turner stars in first look trailer for ITV's The Suspect
ITV have released a first look trailer for new thriller The Suspect starring Poldark's Aidan Turner.
The Suspect will star Aidan Turner alongside Shaun Parkes, Anjli Mohindra, Camilla Beeput, Adam James and Sian Clifford.
In the trailer (which you can watch below), a bearded Turner can be seen trying to unravel the mysterious death of a young woman who is found in a shallow grave in a West London cemetery and, in one dramatic scene, the Poldark actor is seen on the window ledge of a hospital next to a young man trying to save his life.
According to the official synopsis: "Turner plays Doctor Joe O’Loughlin who appears to have a perfect life with a devoted wife, loving daughter, successful practice as a criminal psychologist, media profile and publishing deal.
"When a young woman is found dead he is only too willing to offer help with his profiling and expertise. But as the investigation into the woman’s death gathers pace, we start to ask, do we know the real Joe, or does he have a secret life?"
"I am thrilled to be taking on the complex and demanding role of Joseph O'Loughlin, a man with so much to give but so much to lose, and a hidden darker side," said Turner in an official statement.
The five-part drama comes from the producers of Line of Duty and Vigil, and will be directed by James Strong, who worked on episodes of Vigil, Liar and Broadchurch.
The thriller is based on Michael Robotham's debut novel of the same name, adapted for the screen by Peter Berry (Prime Suspect 6, The Last Enemy). Berry said writing the script "has been a fantastic and fascinating journey".
