Like a lot of you, I stayed up to watch the red carpet arrivals at last night's Met Gala and blame it on Kim Kardashian if you will, but I felt a little underwhelmed.
You'll telling me I waited two years for Kim and Mario to be reunited again, only for Kim to wear a full head mask?
Nah, I'm out.
Thankfully, some celebs understood that we are here for the beauty looks, as well as the fashion.
However, for me, the real winner of the night was Lupita Nyong'o, or rather her hairstylist Vernon Francois, because together they truly created a work of art.
Inspired by Brooklyn conceptual artist Lorna Simpson, Vernon sculpted Lupita's hair into a kind of living sculpture.
"My muse @LupitaNyongo showcasing a hairstyle that captures the romantic aesthetic of tonight’s event theme," he wrote in his Instagram caption.
"Doing this technique with afro hair texture has always been an ambition of mine and seeing it a reality here tonight is something else.
"Brooklyn-born conceptual artist, @lornasimpson inspired the look. Her take on hair textures is powerful, and I wanted to imitate the effortless wave and movement that she conveys in her work."
The result is truly a piece of art in itself and when paired with Lupita's half denim, half crystal gown, makes for possibly my favourite look of the entire night.
