Your favourite stars are gamers too
Looks like these famous stars have a hard time pulling themselves away from the screen. When they’re not busy starring in movies, they’re playing video games instead. Did you know Henry Cavill almost missed out on playing Superman in 'Man of Steel' because he was too busy playing video games to answer the phone to the director? Anya Taylor Joy
'The Queen’s Gambit’ star Anya Taylor Joy is set to voice Princess Peach in 'Super Mario Bros.' - and it's giving her a great excuse to play video games. She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "The greatest part is that I get to say I am doing homework or work or research just by gaming, which is pretty great. "I have to. The fan base is so intense, of course I have to do it. It's so much fun." - 3/11
Mila Kunis
Before the ‘Bad Mom’ actress had kids, she devoted a lot of her free time to playing video games revealing that she was an active member of several 'World of Warcraft' guilds. ‘Black Swan’ star Mila Kunis is also a big fan of games like ‘Call of Duty’, ‘Civilisation’, ‘Mario Party’ and ‘Settlers of Catan’. Speaking at Comic-Con back in 2012, she said: “I’m really good, I’m a really kick-a** mage." She explained: “Well, you’re your own person and you can get into a guild. You gotta be in a guild, because you gotta do raids that require 30 or 40 people. "But now with the expansion pack, they’re gonna have raids that require only, like, 10 people. So that’ll really make things a lot easier. Oh my God, it’s such a good game. I love it.” - 4/11
Megan Fox
It turns out the ‘Transformers’ actress has a lot in common with her tech savvy character Mikaela Banes. She's more than just a pretty face, and the beauty with brains revealed her "addiction" to the ‘Halo’ franchise and enjoyed being the only girl playing against a bunch of men. She told Collider: “I have 'Halo: Reach'. I have a complete addiction to that game. It is sick. I play online mostly and [other gamers] have no idea. "They make fun of my gamer tag too because it is funny. They are all a bunch of guys and it is clear that I am a girl so they make fun of my name, and they have no idea they are making fun of me.” - 5/11
Daniel Craig
He's well known for playing iconic spy James Bond, but Daniel Craig has a taste for playing a villain in video games. The 007 icon is a big fan of the 'Halo' franchise, and loves bursts of freedom in the 'Grand Theft Audio' franchise. He said: “Halo is good because it’s shooting aliens. "Those ultra-violent ones I can play for half-an-hour and then I feel dirty. Vice City, for example. I think, 'Oh yes, all right, I've stolen 18 cars. I've had enough now.’" - 6/11
Zac Efron
It’s hard to believe the ‘High School Musical’ and 'Baywatch' heartthrob Zac Efron struggles to find dates - but apparently it's true! Back in 2016, Zac insisted he's such a "nerd", which can sometimes make it hard to find love. He told Australian news outlet Nine: "I'm a nerd, dude. I love comic books and video games. I just love chilling." - 7/11
Drake
‘One Dance’ rapper Drake broke the internet when he collaborated with top gamer Ninja and played ‘Fort Nite: Battle Royale’ on live-steaming gaming platform Twitch. The 2018 collaboration made history by becoming the most-viewed stream by a single player. The same year, he dropped single 'Nice For What' - and he'd written the lyrics while playing 'NBA 2K' with producer Murda Beatz. - 8/11
Samuel L . Jackson
‘Captain Marvel’ star Samuel L. Jackson has been vocal about his love for ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed’ in the past. He’s even gone to voice characters in games like ‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’, ‘Afro Samuri’, ‘Iron Man 2’ and ‘LEGO Star Wars’ games. He previously told Access Hollywood: "I want to play shooting games. “I’ll sit at home and throw down with guns in front of the TV all day long! Give me a gun and I am all over it. I have total enthusiasm for all these games.” - 9/11
Henry Cavill
The 'Man of Steel' star almost missed out on the lead role as he was too busy playing video games to answer the phone to director Zack Snyder, who called him to tell him he landed the part. Henry Cavill - who is also a huge 'Warhammer 40k' fan - admitted in an interview that he would much rather be at home playing video games then on a night out. Speaking to GQ in 2019, he said: “At home, I get to sit playing games for ridiculous amounts of hours and escape there, because going outside has the opposite effect." - 10/11
Matthew Perry
‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry once proved he had a lot in common with his character, Chandler Bing - who also shares a passion for video games. Perry revealed he once he got carpal tunnel from playing the ‘Fallout’ series so much, but his obsession even led him to take the role of Benny in ‘Fallout: New Vegas’. Appearing on the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show', he said: “I played this video game so often that I injured my hand so severely that I had to go to a hand doctor and get injections in my hand because I love this video game so much.” - 11/11
Brie Larson
‘The Marvels’ actress Brie Larson has been playing video games from an early age. It's no surprise, then, that she's condemned trolls for hating on female gamers and challenged the negative stigma. She said: "I mean even in my earliest baby videos, I had a Nintendo console. "My earliest memories are playing ‘The Little Mermaid’, playing ‘Volleybal’l, playing ‘Super Mario Bros’... All of my Christmas memories are getting the latest consoles like the [Nintendo] DS. "[My mom, sister and I] were all into games, and this was before social media, so it wasn't like there was this stigma. "By the time I was hearing that there was any sort of issue about anybody not being included in the gaming community, I was like 'this is ridiculous.'"
