Play nice, children! Sibling rivalries amongst the stars

It’s very common for siblings to argue and feel overshadowed by each other, but just how much is too much? For some of these celebs the bickering has turned so sour that some of them refuse to speak to each other. Find out which stars are in a frosty feud like Prince Harry and Prince William, whose royal rift doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon…

Jamie Lynn has been criticised for supporting her sister Britney’s conservatorship and going against the FreeBritney movement. Britney, whose conservatorship was terminated after nearly 14 years in 2021, blasted her younger sibling for writing a book about the ordeal. The ‘Baby One More Time’ hitmaker accused her sister of exploiting her situation for money by releasing a memoir titled ‘Things I Should Have Said.’ An extract from the letter read: "Britney has not read and does not intend to read your book, she and millions of her fans were shocked to see how you have exploited her for monetary gain. She will not tolerate it, nor should she."

The supermodel sisters have reportedly been engaging in cat fights instead of focusing on the cat walk. Gigi was reportedly jealous over Bella stealing her thunder. An insider said: "If there was one thing Gigi felt like she had that Bella would never achieve, it was her status as a Victoria's Secret model. And now that's gone." Bella also claimed that she was a model’s model whereas Gigi was just a social media queen.

Millions witnessed the Kardashian sisters scrapping in series 18 of ‘Keeping up With The Kardashians’. Fans were shocked as their verbal exchange turned into a physical alteration as Kim took aim at the work ethic of her siblings.

Madonna and Christopher Ciccone once shared a very close sibling relationship. Christopher showed his brotherly love since the launch of the pop icon's career by being her assistant, stylist and art director. However, just before the launch of his 2008 memoir ‘Life With My Sister Madonna’ the siblings stopped speaking. It didn’t sit well with Madonna that her brother had spilt all the secrets of love life and career. The pair stopped speaking for five to six years before patching things up, only to reignite the long standing feud again. This time it was Chris who was mad with Madonna for blacklisting him.

The rock and roll lifestyle took its toll on the Oasis bandmates and ultimately finished off the group. Noel accused Liam of pulling out of the band’s headlining gig at V Festival in 2009 for being too hungover. Liam denied the allegations and threatened to take his brother to court, although the lawsuit was later dropped. Since the break up of Oasis, the brothers are flying solo and continue to argue to this day with no sign of a reunion on the horizon.

Fans were devastated in 2013 to discover the Jonas brothers, made up of Nick, Kevin and Joe, had abruptly cancelled their 19-date tour. The band claimed that there had been "a big disagreement over their music direction". The band eventually reunited in 2019 and toured the US last year.

According to their mother Tina Knowles, Beyoncé hated Solange when they were young as Solange tried desperately hard not to be in the shadow of her older sibling. She recalled: "She [Beyoncé] couldn’t stand her for a minute. You know, they were little, [Solange] was all in her stuff, trying to hang around her and her friends and Beyoncé was really irritated."

Back in May 2021, Kelly revealed on Dax Shepard’s 'Armchair Expert' podcast that she was estranged from her older sister Aimee because they don’t understand each other and are polar opposites. She said: "We don't talk," Aimee hit back at the comments by explaining that she refused to be part of ‘The Osbournes’ reality show as she didn’t want her private life to be in the public eye.

It appears that Prince William and Prince Harry isn't the only royal rivalry. The Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa reportedly have long-standing sibling battle A family friend of the Middleton’s told The Scotsman back in 2008 that Kate was always jealous of Pippa and worried that she would be overshadowed by her younger sister. They said: "Kate was always quite jealous of Pippa. "I sensed that she feared being eclipsed by her, because Pippa has more natural effervescence, is socially much more at ease and was always popular with everyone."

Nothing wrong with healthy competition. The legendary tennis sisters prefer to settle their arguments on the tennis court, with Serena leading 19-12 in their career head-to-head. Serena doesn’t like battling against her sister though, she said: "If I win I'm not super excited, and if I lose I'm really not excited." Venus added: "I think we just both want to win ... I think we just both have so much respect for each other's game that makes it probably a little tougher because you know you're not going to get an easy win."
