Piers Morgan warns of the effects of long Covid after Lewis Hamilton's sickness

Piers Morgan warned his Twitter followers about the effects of long Covid after Lewis Hamilton's post-GP sickness.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion was visibly struggling after Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix, and his Formula 1 team Mercedes revealed he was suffering from dizziness and fatigue.

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers issued a warning shortly afterwards, noting his own issues with energy levels after contracting Covid-19 in July.

"Do not underestimate the effects of long-covid," Piers wrote on Sunday. "I've never had fatigue like this, nearly 3 weeks after symptoms started.

"Lewis, one of the world's fittest athletes, had covid 8 months ago and is still having issues he believes are linked to it."

Fellow presenter Carol Vorderman responded to his tweet declaring that she too faced similar issues.

Earlier in the week, the former newspaper editor took to Twitter to reveal he had "shocking fatigue & little taste/smell".

Hamilton was unable to conduct post-race interviews in Hungary due to illness, and later told a press conference he has struggled training ever since contracting Covid-19 in Dubai in December 2020.

"I haven't spoken to anyone particularly about long Covid, but I think it is lingering there," he said.

Piers believes he caught Covid-19 at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley on 11 July, which left him with symptoms including chest pains, fever, and cold sweats.

He fell ill despite having both doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
