Piers Morgan shares presenting prize with Susanna Reid at TRIC Awards

Piers Morgan invited his former Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid to share his presenting prize at the 2021 TRIC Awards on Wednesday.

The 56-year-old controversially won the News Presenter of the Year prize at The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC)'s annual awards ceremony, which took place months after he left the morning show in March after receiving backlash for saying he didn't believe Meghan, Duchess of Sussex when she confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she suffered suicidal thoughts.

During his acceptance speech, Piers invited his former co-host Susanna, who was also nominated in the category, to share the award as they made a "remarkable" team.

Joking about Piers onstage, she said, "He can start an argument in an empty room. I've never known anyone get so worked up over a sausage roll."

The awards show marked the first time the former co-hosts had seen each other since his dramatic exit, and the controversial commentator admitted their reunion had been "emotional".

"It felt it was right to share with Susanna. I haven't seen Susanna since I left so it was very emotional. You get very close to someone when you work that closely together," he said, reports the Daily Mirror. "Not many men have seen Susanna Reid at 5am in her curlers."

Sharing a picture of their moment onstage together on Instagram, Susanna wrote, "Congratulations @piersmorgan for winning News Presenter of the Year. And thank you for sharing the award with me on stage. We were a great team. #TRICAwards."

She also called his decision to share the award "an absolutely lovely moment" on Thursday's episode of Good Morning Britain.
