Piers Morgan accidentally starts a new feminist hashtag
Piers Morgan is a divisive figure. There’s no questioning that.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ co-host has already sparked outrage this week with his attitude towards ‘disgraced’ transgender model Munroe Bergdorf.
But a tweet from the presenter has kickstarted a new feminist trend across social media.
After tweeting “I’ll be co-hosting GMB tomorrow with 3 broken ribs. For the more fragile snowflakes among you, this is called ‘manning up’” (with two fist emojis for good measure), Piers faced a huge backlash from women.
UPDATE: I’ll be co-hosting @GMB tomorrow with 3 broken ribs. For the more fragile snowflakes among you, this is called ‘manning up’.

Starting the hashtag #WomanningUp, several people have shared stories of the things they’ve done while in great pain.
“Try carrying a baby for 10 months WHILE WORKING then giving birth,” commented one woman.
Others shared similar pregnancy stories as well as plenty of times when they’d been seriously ill and had to look after a toddler.
Some went even more dramatic with one person tweeting: “I was in a plane crash and showed up to my speaking engagement the next morning because #WomanningUp.”

I gave birth twice with no drugs and tore open the packets of stitches to sew me up with my *teeth* as there was a staff shortage. Woman up. https://t.co/xyTnF9vnVl

.@piersmorgan @GMB I took care of a 2 year old with 3 broken ribs, a fractured collar bone and a torn rotator cuff. It’s called being a mom.

As well as their own tales, women also mentioned female celebrities who have impressed with their achievements.
One woman noted how ‘Wonder Woman’ star filmed several stunt scenes for the film while five months pregnant while a man brought up the time Hillary Clinton carried on working despite having pneumonia.

Evangeline Lilly did phyiscal work on The Hobbit after childbirth when her hips were still splayed. That’s pretty badass too.

Kind of makes sitting on a sofa chatting not so much of a big deal, right Piers?
