Pierce Brosnan has given a promising verdict on whether we'll see a third Mamma Mia! film, revealing he would be more than happy to reprise his role as Sam Carmichael.

While appearing on Good Morning America to promote his upcoming film Black Adam, the actor said: "I'm in, too. Sure. It's criminal how much fun you have on that movie. I think everybody would be in... I'm sure there's some plans."

Brosnan is not the first Mamma Mia! star to float the possibility of a third run for the ABBA-soundtracked musical, either. This year, Christine Baranski, Lily James and Amanda Seyfried have all said they'd be down to revisit the story.

Speaking to Variety earlier this year, Seyfried admitted that while she hadn't been approached about a third film, she'd love to make it should the opportunity occur. "I hope we do another one, but you know, no one's talking to me," she said.

James, who played the younger version of Donna Sheridan we saw in flashbacks throughout the second movie, revealed she was "desperate" for a third film to happen.

"It was like, it didn't feel real," she said. "It was so fun just singing on the beach and on a boat. I don't know."

Stellan Skarsgård, who played Bill in the films, has also previously teased the idea of Mamma Mia! 3, saying: "I wouldn't have to read the script. If they call, I'll come.

"Can they come up with a story which doesn't have to be that plausible, but plausible enough? But if they want to do it, I'll be there," he added.

In fact, co-creator Judy Craymer even confirmed she'd originally intended Mamma Mia! to be a trilogy. However, despite the wishes of the cast and crew, there isn't official confirmation that we'll be getting Mamma Mia! 3 any time soon.

But should the opportunity occur then it's pretty obvious everyone would be down for another trip to the Greek islands.
