Big congratulations to Phillip Schofield, whose white wine just won a major award in its first year. His Benevento IGT Falanghina got third place at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit awards.
A delighted Schofe took to Instagram and wrote: "OMG!! My white wine just took the bronze at the 2020 International Wine & Spirit Competition... Considered to be the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world!! I am SO thrilled!! Congratulations @wheninromewine @theiwsc 😊😊."
Phillip's ethical wine range with Waitrose shows there's a lot more to boxed wine and to celebrity projects.
He posted a second time explaining what winning the blind-tasted competition means to him, writing: "Delighted to have won an internationally renowned award yesterday 😊. Blind-tasted by the who's who in the wine world.
"One ambition when creating my wines was to help challenge the perceptions of boxed wine, showing that they're excellent quality as well as being eco-friendly."
The award-winning wine is described as fruity and refreshing, with zesty lemon and lime flavours, delicate acacia and orange blossom notes, and hints of tart green apple and quince on the finish. From that description, we can see why it was a winning tipple!
Congratulations Phillip and the team behind the prize Falanghina!
