Phillip Schofield making TV comeback in Channel 5 show - spending ten days on remote island
Phillip Schofield has landed a new gig on Channel 5, 16 months after his axe from ITV's This Morning. The 62-year-old broadcaster has filmed a Channel 5 special, titled Cast Away, which sees him on a tropical island for 10 days, reports The Sun. It's said the presenter will be 'fending for himself' on an island off Madagascar as he battles for survival, where he will be opening up on the last two years.
"Over the past few months Phil has had quite a few offers for various things - but has steadfastly turned them all down," a source told the publication. "This sort of challenge has always appealed to him though and after consulting with friends and family, he decided to go for it. It's all been top secret, and has been an incredibly quick turnaround in order to keep the news quiet." The source says the star shot some "unbelievably raw footage - some of it makes for tough, emotional viewing."
The source claims Phil "wanted a chance to share his story," and let viewers see a different side of him. However, they claim the star is in 'no rush' to come back to TV full time as he still 'remains very bruised'.

In May 2023, Phil stepped down from his presenting roles at ITV and This Morning after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague. As well as the hugely popular daytime TV show, which the star had hosted for 20 years, he also presented Dancing On Ice with Holly Willoughby.
The news comes after Phillip teased a comeback to the small screen on his Instagram story on Tuesday night. Sharing a black background, the star simply wrote: "Watch this space... 9am," alongside a winking face emoji, implying that the news would be revealed on Wednesday morning.
Channel 5 have teased the show on their Instagram page, although Phillip's face was not shown. As he walks across the remote beach, the caption reads: "A celebrity marooned on an uninhabited tropical island off the coast of Madagascar for 10 days is challenged with total isolation, the forces of nature, and the battle within their own mind. #CastAway #DesertIsland."
Fans have been leaving their guesses to who it could be in the comments, with many leaning towards Phil. "Schofe’s account has just said 9am tomorrow, watch this space… it’s got to be an announcement for this, surely," penned one, while another wrote: "Philip Schofield... Good for him!"
