Phillip Schofield was called out by a disgruntled This Morning viewer on air who says the presenter snubbed his daughter’s request for an autograph.

The awkward moment took place during the show’s Spin To Win segment on Monday, 5 October.

Mike from Bristol was called to play the game, and while on air said his daughter had asked Schofield for an autograph but was refused because the presenter was “too busy”.

The anecdote led to the This Morning production crew jeering and booing a visibly uncomfortable Schofield.

Mike said he and his daughter Honey met Schofield when he did a balloon ride in Bristol "many years ago".

He explained: "We followed you, my daughter ran to the balloon.

"She tells me this story many many times, she asked you for your autograph and you said you were too busy."

Defending himself, Schofield protested: "I was probably hanging out of a balloon at the time!"

Mike proved there were no hard feelings as he laughed while co-host Holly Willoughby promised to add some signed prizes to his winnings to make up for it.

He was also given the answer to a question when struggling as a way of an apology.

Schofield threw in a signed script to send to Honey that read: "To Honey, not too busy this time. With love Phillip Schofield."

Spin To Win is a popular, if unpredictable, segment on the mid-morning show. It sees Schofield and Willoughby calling viewers to take part, and they have to answer with a key phrase rather than saying hello.

But the gameshow is often hit with technical issues and people answering without saying the correct phrase.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
