Peter Andre shares 'his prayers' amid mum’s health battle in heartfelt statement
Last year Peter Andre told of his mum Thea's health battle, announcing she had been diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. And he told readers of his column earlier this year: "Although I thank God my parents are still here, I am seeing the rapid decline, especially in Mum. I find that part hard to deal with. Like most people, l'm so close to my parents that it is really difficult to come to terms with."
This week he paid tribute to his parents as he marked their 69th anniversary and prays they make it safely to their 70th next year...
FAMILY INSPIRATION

My parents marked their 69th wedding anniversary recently, which is amazing. Their relationship is so inspiring, their love has always been something I’ve looked up to. I’m praying they make it safely to their 70th anniversary next year. It’s really tough to see your parents get old or sick, but I’m also so grateful as I know how lucky I am to still have parents around. A lot of people don’t have that. I will be going to Australia to see them soon.
KATE'S BACK
The Princess of Wales’ family video, which gave an update on her cancer treatment, was released last week. It showed a different side to the royals. Firstly, I, like many, am so happy she is on the road to recovery. I’ve always thought Kate and William have the modern touch in royalty and it’s lovely to see. The video got the message across that, at the end of the day, they are a family and are human like the rest of us. Kate is loved in this country and I can see why. I grew up in Australia, but being from the UK meant I had a special bond with all that was British while I was abroad. And nothing is more British than the royal family. I also had the pleasure of meeting the late Queen three times, which was amazing. Although, as most of you know, I did spill coffee on her carpet, which was not so great. We wish the Princess a speedy recovery.
ON MY TRAVELS
I’m off to Poland this weekend to perform in one of the big arenas for Turn Back The Time, so when you read this I’ll have done my first show in Poland for 30 years, which is exciting. Unfortunately, I won’t have much time to look around this time – it’s just a quick trip. I get asked if I get nervous about performing. I’d say less nerves, more excitement – I think it’s how I know I’m in the right job, it never gets old. I do have a ritual before performing, I do vocal warm-ups and get myself ready with push-ups, sit-ups and loosening the body up.
GO ON, MOLLY-MAE
Molly-Mae Hague has launched her own fashion brand and I really respect her for it, I think she’s done so well since Love Island. She comes across as a really lovely girl and has done well for herself. I think it’s good to break the stereotype that going on a reality show like Love Island means you won’t be successful in business. Molly has had a tough time recently since her break-up and she deserves all the success. Hard work pays off.
CHANGE IS NEEDED
BBC’s Panorama: Can We Live Without Our Phones? tested what happens when phones are taken away from kids. I do think there needs to be more regulations on phones, because, as a parent, it’s hard to monitor. The government should introduce policies to cut down kids’ use, otherwise, it doesn’t work. I was strict on Princess when she was younger, I wouldn’t let her watch Love Island or anything like that and then I heard she watched it at school on a friend’s phone. You can’t always win as a parent so I think it needs change from a higher level.
