There's no better time than Hogmanay to get together with your closest friends and family, crack open the drinks and see in the start of a new year together. And if you're not keen to venture out on the town, there's really nothing that beats a cosy night in with a couple of people.

So if you really want to impress your guests by channelling your inner mixologist, having a good cocktail recipe up your sleeve is vital. And there's one that has been doing the rounds on social media recently that is the perfect sweet treat to welcome in 2025.

The sugar cookie cocktail is vanilla-based, with Bailey's and Amaretto also thrown in for that almond hit, the Express reports . But the real star of the show is the addition of vanilla icing around the rim of each martini glass, which is then dipped into rainbow sprinkles for a delicious garnish that elevates the cocktail to new heights.

There are a few variations circulating on TikTok but one which has proved hugely popular since it was posted last month belongs to content creator Brooke Barry. With more than 500k views and countless comments praising the taste and simplicity of the drink, it's definitely one to consider making this New Year's Eve.

One person said in the comments: "Oh this is perfect." Another said: "I’m all about the frosting on the rim." Another added: "That looks so good I have to try it."

Here's everything you need to make this sweet and decadent cocktail at home.

Sugar cookie cocktail

Ingredients (makes one)

  • 40ml vanilla vodka

  • 40ml Bailey's

  • 30ml amaretto

  • 30ml milk

  • Vanilla icing and sprinkles to decorate

  • Whipped cream (optional)

Method

First, prepare your martini glasses. Spread vanilla icing around the rim of each one, then dip in a plate full of sprinkles so that they stick to the icing.

Then, fill a cocktail shaker with a couple of ice cubes. Pour in the vodka, Bailey's, amaretto and milk, and shake to combine.

Using a strainer, pour the cocktail evenly between the glasses if you're making more than one. If you like, you can top each one with whipped cream, adding more sprinkles on the top.

If it has too strong a taste for your liking, simply add another splash of milk.
