People StyleWatch Holiday 2024: A Letter from the Editor
Andrea Lavinthal, PEOPLE's Style and Beauty Director, takes you inside the holiday edition of PEOPLE StyleWatch
As someone who grew up in New Jersey back when mall culture was the culture, my favorite way to get in the holiday spirit is by going shopping. As soon as the calendar flips to November, every store transforms into a winter wonderland with shimmering tinsel, bow-bedecked wreaths and twinkle lights.
These days, when it comes to shopping for the perfect gift for everyone on my list (myself included), I love strolling through stores as much as I love scrolling on my phone.
Here at PEOPLE StyleWatch, we’ve been busy doing both and the result is our list of the 20 most stylish gifts of the year, which you’ll find inside this issue (brought to you with our partner, one-stop holiday shop, JCPenney). You’ll also find the best new fragrances, glam beauty looks and tons of holiday party fashion inspo.
And who better to show off a range of the season’s hottest trends than our multi-talented cover star, Sofia Carson. The actress, singer and UNICEF ambassador, posed in an array of festive ensembles, before sitting down with us to talk about everything from starting out as a Disney star to developing her personal style (she says her perfect red carpet look has to feel “like a moment”). She also answered questions from her biggest fans ranging in age from three to 33 and in addition to sharing her experience in the spotlight, she offered some great advice about career, dating and more.
Speaking of someone who’s full of wisdom, we close out the issue with none other than Dolly Parton. The icon, who’s as famous for her talents as she is her heart, tells us what inspires her and her answer (which can be found here) is something we all could use a little more of right now.
Now let’s get this holiday party started!
Andrea
P.S. If you want to get the glam vibe of our festive shoot with Sofia, check out these on-trend party pieces from JCPenney.
