People Are Sharing Their Favorite "Kinda Gross But Tastes Incredible" Food Combos, And I'll Admit It, My Mouth Is Watering
We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to share their unusual food pairing that actually tastes...really good. Here are some of their responses:
."Grilled cheese sandwich dipped in applesauce! Most people would agree that cheese and apple pair well, but when they are in these particular formats, it looks a little strange."

."Dressing up a frozen pizza (usually just plain cheese) with pickles, usually sliced dill (blotted to remove some of the water), then drizzled with a bit of ranch."
—Anonymous, 54, Canada
."A year or two ago, a coworker mentioned that someone in her family liked tuna and peanut butter sandwiches. I wretched at the thought, even though peanut butter is my favorite food, and I love tuna sandwiches. That day for lunch, I told our group chat I'd try it, just for fun. Well, I ate my words pretty quickly. Somehow, it was actually really good. I started out with just a tiny bite with both things on a corner of a slice of bread, but I enjoyed it so much I actually ended up making a full sandwich. Haven't done it since, and I still grimace at the thought of the two actually complementing each other, but damn if it wasn't actually tasty."
."I prefer my pancakes and waffles with syrup, and...ketchup. My grandfather passed this on to me. He picked it up in his Army days."

."My mom (depression era) loved peanut butter and mustard on saltine crackers. I always made fun of her until she asked if I had tried it. Of course not! She made one for me, I finished it and said, 'Well I'll be damned.' Never made fun of her again."

."Doritos and cottage cheese. It has to be the original nacho cheese flavor. My mom introduced it to me and my sisters when we were kids, and we loved it. I made my husband try it when we got married, and he’s a big fan now, too."
."Cream cheese on a Kit Kat, oh my GOD. It’s heavenly."

."Black olives stuck on the end of a carrot stick. It's so good, but people think I'm weird. Then again, people also thought I was weird for liking potato chips with ketchup."

."Pitted dates stuffed with wasabi almonds. The intense sweetness of the dates with the salty almonds and a hint of spice — it shouldn’t work, but it just does."

."Peanut butter and jelly chicken wings. Fry them and then coat them in peanut butter and shake with jelly. Any kind of jelly works. The peanut butter forms a sort of crispy layer. It sounds weird, but try it, and you’ll never go back!"

."Strawberries and black pepper. The pepper somehow enhances the strawberry flavor without making it spicy."
."Balsamic vinegar on ice cream is incredible, but you have to use good, thick balsamic...not that grocery store trash."
."Peanut butter and avocado on sourdough bread!"
."Cream cheese in scrambled eggs. It sounds disgusting, but it's so comforting and delicious, especially on top of a toasted bagel."

"First, you melt about a tablespoon of butter in a pan, then add a few good chunks of cream cheese until they’re a bit softened. Then, you pour in about two to three eggs mixed with a splash of milk, salt, and pepper, then just keep mixing until the eggs are just cooked, but the cream cheese is still somewhat chunky. My mom makes this for herself and my dad, and I boycotted it for years because it seemed gross, but once I had a bite of it on buttered toast, I was hooked."

."Broken plain chips (ridges are too much) mashed into little bits that you then dip your banana in. PERFECTION."

."Breaded fish sticks and chocolate pudding. I found this out on accident when one fish stick had meandered over to the pudding in my frozen meal. I didn't want to waste it. Turns out...it's good!"
