Harry Styles’ fans are expressing their infatuation with the singer after resurfaced photos showed him dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

In the photos, the 27-year-old can be seen posing on a chair while dressed in a long red wig, a green mermaid tail and a shell bra, with his various tattoos on full display.

However, the former One Direction star’s outfit was slightly more mature than the one worn by the Disney princess, as he paired the costume with a cigarette and a glass of champagne.

On Friday, the pictures, which were reportedly taken during Styles’ 2019 Saturday Night Live photoshoot, began to circulate on Twitter, where they have since been liked thousands of times and prompted the Watermelon Sugar singer’s name to trend on the platform.

“Harry Styles as The Little Mermaid is the best thing of 2021,” one person tweeted, despite the fact the photos were taken in 2019.

Another said: “I didn’t expect to see Harry Styles posing as a mermaid today when I opened Twitter … but I am not complaining. I am not complaining.”

Others pointed out that Styles has previously shared his love of mermaids before, with fans recalling that the singer has a large tattoo of a mermaid on his arm.

In 2014, Styles revealed the tattoo to a Hollywood Life reporter, who then asked about the meaning behind the tattoo. According to the outlet, the singer smiled as he responded: “I am a mermaid.”

The photos have also led fans to question whether Styles, who was reportedly offered the role of Prince Eric in the upcoming live-action version of the Disney classic in 2019, turned it down because he had actually wanted the role of Ariel.

At the time, Styles had told The Face that the opportunity for him to play the Disney prince was “discussed” but that he wanted to focus on his music.

“I want to put music out and focus on that for a while. But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it’s going to be great. I’ll enjoy watching it, I’m sure,” he told the outlet.
