Royal Mail is being applauded for its response to a little boy who posted a birthday card to his dad “in heaven”.

Jase Hyndman received a touching letter back from Royal Mail to say the letter had been delivered safely.

Along with his sister, Nieve, 10, the seven-year-old from West Lothian marks the occasion of his dad’s birthday every year since he died in May 2014.

And this year was no different.

“Mr Postman can you take this to heaven for my dad’s birthday thanks,” Jase addressed the envelope.

In response to his heartwarming request, Royal Mail’s Sean Milligan sent a letter back assuring Jase that his message to his father, James, had made it through the “difficult” journey.

“I just wanted to take this opportunity to contact you about how we succeeded in the delivery of your letter, to your dad in heaven,” the letter read.

“This was a difficult challenge avoiding stars and other galactic objects on route to heaven,” the note continued. “However please be assured that this particular important item of mail has been delivered.”

Before concluding: “I know how important your mail is to you and I will continue to do all I can to ensure delivery to heaven safely.”

On receiving the touching response, Jase’s mum Teri Copland took to Facebook to share an image of the envelope Jase sent and the letter he received back.

“A few weeks ago my 7 year old son posted this card to his dad in heaven and today he got a lovely reply from the postman,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

“I actually cannot state how emotional he is knowing his dad got his card. You didn’t have to make the effort to do this you could have just ignored it but the fact that yous [sic] have made the effort for a little boy you’ve never met is such a lovely thing to do.

“Royal Mail you’ve just restored my faith in humanity,” she concluded her post before going on to thank Royal Mail for their kindness.
