People can't cope with Boris Johnson's attempt at holding an umbrella gone wrong

Boris Johnson is the head of a governing party during an extremely serious pandemic, but it seems his biggest challenge of late has been getting to grips with the correct use of an umbrella.

Yesterday (27 July) the PM paid a visit to Surrey Police headquarters to launch his new anti-crime policy and a crack down on anti-social behaviour, however it wasn't really the content of his speech that got people talking. They were far more interested in the fact Boris was getting absolutely soaked in the rain, despite holding an umbrella.

In videos doing the rounds on social media, a soggy-looking Boris can be seen speaking to camera about his plans, holding up his umbrella but somehow still getting drenched.

Fair enough, we've all been caught out in a rainstorm with a flimsy umbrella just not cutting it, but what the people of Twitter truly couldn't cope with was that Boris was moving his brolly around like nobody's business but not really keeping it directly above his head.

At points he was moving it to the side, leaving his shoulder to get pelted with rain, and at times he tried lifting the umbrella up very high - only leaving more room for the downpour to defeat him.

The people of Twitter picked up on this very much looking like a new learning experience for the PM.

"The biggest task Boris Johnson faces today: learning how to effectively use an umbrella," one person wrote.

Others took to Twitter to dissect the situation further.

Not ideal for Boris, however his day wasn't all struggle as he also spent time meeting a bunch of police dogs and was pictured petting them in a garden. All in a day's work for the most senior politician in the country...

Well, we are having a very British summer so we're sure more downpours will be on their way soon offering fresh opportunity for the Prime Minister to bring out his brolly again. Practice makes perfect, eh Boris?
