Update: It's been brought to our attention that the photos were from earlier this year and, according to fan sites, the series will begin shooting in January 2020.

Peaky Blinders fans unite – Cillian Murphy is officially back as Thomas Shelby for the sixth series following the gangster drama’s latest cliffhanger.

New photos from the BBC drama’s set in Liverpool show Murphy alongside Paul Anderson, who plays his on-screen brother Arthur.

It might be no surprise to learn that Murphy will be back for new episodes, although fans were concerned about his character’s wellbeing following the conclusion of series five.

The finale, which aired in September, ended with Shelby holding a gun to his head.

Manchester Evening News reports that production will shift to Manchester once filming is completed in Liverpool.

The sixth series of Peaky Blinders is expected to be the penultimate, with creator Steven Knight recently telling TalkSport the seventh outing would “almost certainly” be the last.

It’s unknown when series six will begin on the BBC. However, in recent years, there has been a lengthy wait between episodes.
