Blake Lively is our beauty world equivalent of the reliable best friend. There’s no flakiness about her, no scary surprises in the form of questionable hair or a mismatched statement lip. You can count on her time and time again to appear with her trademark sun-kissed tresses either falling around her shoulders or loosely styled, and with her makeup subtle enough to enhance but not detract from her enviably glowing features. What you see is what you're always going to get.
Tuesday night was no exception as she appeared in New York to support husband Ryan Reynolds at the premiere of his new animated film Turbo. A beaming Blake glided around fresh-faced and radiant in a Burberry ensemble, which she matched with a just-walked-off-the-beach tan, loose waves and a flawless complexion.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that the Gossip Girl beauty had simply sashayed her way across town from a facial appointment and opted to go makeup free, so understated was the look. But we know different. Proving her beauty credentials yet again, Blake has hopped on board with one of the most triumphant summer trends this season - peaches and cream.
Life's a peach for Blake (Well obviously, she's married to Ryan Reynolds after all!)
The beauty world has provided for this wonderfully for this wearable trend and there are some gorgeous products available for you to play with this summer. The aim, as Blake demonstrated perfectly last night, is to achieve an effortlessly pretty complexion with each feature gently highlighted but not vying for statement status.
Start by nailing that dewy glow. After moisturising apply a radiance boosting primer such as MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Base Visage, £29.00 then opt for a low coverage base such as a tinted moisturiser or BB Cream to let your natural skin tones show through. For eyes keep it simple with a pearl nude or peach shade. Try the Topshop Eye Crayon in Marble, £6.50 and apply lightly to the lower lashline as well as the eyelid. Apply a lighter colour to the inner corners of eyes to really open them up. For cheeks the Revlon Baby Stick in Tahitian, £6.99 is ideal, it is sheer and colour can be built up as desired without looking too heavy. Sweep a highlighter such as MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Adored, £22.00 lightly across the side and tops of cheekbones to add structure. Blake wore a rosy shade on her lips which gives a lovely contrast to the look. Try Giorgio Armani’s Flash Lacquer in 501, £23.50.
This is the perfect look to take you from a park picnic to a red carpet this season (as Miss Lively so brilliantly demonstrated) and what’s more it’s bang on trend. Check out our gallery below for all the latest snaps of Blake's take on this delicious look.
