The pair have had a series of public feuds all season, with Mourinho stripping Pogba of the Manchester United captaincy in September before dropping his talisman for several key encounters, including Sunday’s humiliating defeat to rivals Liverpool.

Mourinho’s defensive style of play also received a dig from the 25-year-old, his #heretocreate hashtag a reference to the Frenchman feeling stifled in his role at Old Trafford as well as an Adidas slogan.

The tweet did not go down well with Manchester United stalwart Gary Neville, who tweeted back telling Pogba to “do one as well”.

Meanwhile Kyle Walker, who plays for inter-city rivals Manchester City, took a cheeky dig at Pogba after he was slammed for the post.

The 28-year-old defender, who deleted a tweet after the most recent Manchester derby originally mocking his rivals, took to Twitter to respond to Pogba.

“Who deletes tweets these days!?” read the simple post.

Mourinho was sacked after 936 days in charge at Old Trafford and leaves the club following their worst ever start to a Premier League season.
