Paul Mescal and Phoebe Bridgers are one of our new favourite celeb couples. The Normal People actor and singer were first reported to be dating in July 2020 and, over a year later, they've now finally made things red carpet official!

Despite hailing from Ireland and Los Angeles respectively, these two have actually wound up making a perfect match. We love it when an unexpected pairing comes together.

Here's what we know about their relationship so far, starting with the most recent update...

6 November 2021: Paul and Phoebe make their red carpet debut

While they've kept their relationship pretty under wraps until now, Paul and Phoebe appeared to make things properly official on Saturday [6 November], posing on the red carpet together for the first time.

Although the pair haven't publicly spoken out confirming their relationship, they did look very cosy in pictures as a duo, standing with their arms around one another and laughing together. How cute do these two look?

Paul and Phoebe were walking the red carpet together at the 2021 LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci, also hanging out with Paul's The Lost Daughter co-star Dakota Johnson and director Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Meanwhile, Phoebe later tweeted, "paul thinks thousand island is called hundred years sauce," presumably in reference to the American salad dressing, and we can only imagine it's Paul Mescal that she's talking about. So, yeah, gives you an idea of the conversation topic of the night, I guess. Super glamorous, obviously.

12 May 2020: Paul and Phoebe share a Twitter exchange

Phoebe and Paul were first linked in a very 2020 fashion: on Twitter. Revealing that she'd completed Normal People, which sees Paul playing lead character Connell, Phoebe tweeted, "finished normal people and now I’m sad and horny oh wait".

Responding just as we'd expect, Paul tweeted back, "I'm officially dead." with Phoebe then replying, "nooo don’t die your so talented aha".

Erm, we're not quite sure what was going on here, but it seems like these two might have known each other prior to their exchange, if their shared humour is anything to go by.

Stop it, you guys!

Reports also claimed that the pair then stayed online afterwards having drinks together, according to The Mirror.

Following the pair's Twitter and IG exchanges, 27-year-old Phoebe was quick to gush about the Normal People actor in a subsequent interview with NME, calling him “the cute boy” from the show.

Discussing the moment she realised Paul followed her on Instagram, she said, "I got a little pitter-patter in my heart when I saw".

Aw, cute

Heading across the Atlantic for an IRL meet-up, Phoebe is thought to have flown to Ireland from LA to see Paul, with reports claiming that the pair are dating.

While no photo receipts emerged, it appears the duo met for brunch in a cafe in Kinsale, Ireland - with the venue themselves tweeting that the pair had stopped by.

"Fan-Tas-Tic day thanks to @mescal_paul and @phoebe_bridgers for calling to our café this morning for breakfast," the Lemon Tree cafe wrote. "Such amazing talented young people #Celebrities #musicaltalent #Staycation2020 #breakfast #voiceofageneration".

Paul discusses his unnamed "girlfriend" in an interview with GQ. While it's not known whether Paul is indeed talking about Phoebe here, it certainly seems like he was smitten by someone.

The article mentions Paul discussing his girlfriend, whom the actor calls “a lifesaver". He added, "To have someone to lean on through such a mad, mad time has been invaluable. Really, I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
