Passenger rushed to hospital after 'fall from height' at Gatwick Airport

A passenger was rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening after falling from a height in front of shocked travellers at Gatwick Airport.

According to reports, the passenger fell at around 6.30pm near the duty free shop in Gatwick’s South Terminal departure lounge.

Pictures posted on the Twitter account London 999 Feed showed emergency services inside medical screens after the incident.

According to reports, the passenger was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Their condition is unknown.

A Gatwick Airport spokesperson said: “On Wednesday evening the emergency services and Gatwick staff were called to assist a passenger injured in a fall in the South Terminal departure lounge. The passenger was taken to hospital by the air ambulance service.”

The spokesman could not confirm what height the passenger had fallen from.

Sussex Police have also confirmed that they were dealing with an incident at the airport.
