Paris paralysed by public transport strike
A strike by workers has paralysed Paris’ public transport system.
Ten of the city’s 16 subway lines are shut. Several others, as well as the suburban RER rail system, are severely disrupted.
The strike, the biggest since 2007, is in protest at proposed pension reform by Emmanuel Macron’s government.
In addition, many metro stations across the city are shut and others will only be open during morning and evening peak hours.
Bus and tram services are also affected, said RATP, which runs the city’s public transport services.
RATP advised passengers to not travel unless necessary.
Paris Aéroport, which represents Paris Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports, warned of travel disruption and advised passengers to plan their trip in advance.

The Eurostar, which runs trains between London and Paris, is not affected by the strike.
The transport network is expected to return to normal at 5.30am on Saturday.
