Saint Laurent presented its AW13 ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week yesterday.
With an A-List FROW including Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain, Creative Director Hedi Slimane was under pressure to impress.
After the lukewarm reception to his debut SS13 collection working with Saint Laurent, the Parisian-born designer came up trumps with his AW13 showcase.
Embracing the grunge culture, he featured ripped tights, dischevelled locks and biker books on the runway.

Prints were a huge trend in his collection, with floral print and checks featuring heavily on the designs.
Pretty floral frocks were toughened up with 90s style overcoats and studded boots.
The models wore oversized men’s style shirts in cobalt blue and vivid red shades, with the buttons undone and the sleeves too long to evoke a grungey feel.
Leather was another key trend on the catwalk with models sporting bustier style playsuits and zipped leather skirts.

A stunning leather mini dress was teamed with sheer studded sleeves, while a fitted skirt was worn with a ruffled halter neck top.
Hedi Slimane’s debut AW13 collection was notably dark and eerie compared to other shows at Paris Fashion Week – but that doesn’t mean it didn’t pack a punch.
