Following on from last week’s bonkers cheerio stacking trend, there’s another social media craze that is sweeping the Internet and it’s equally as wacky.

Parents in Japan are sharing pictures of their babies, covering their bottoms with a peach. We presume the idea is to illustrate that babies’ bottoms are somewhat peach like, but hey who knows?

From what we can gather, the trend seems to have kicked off after a photo printing company, Kodomono ran a competition on Instagram. The competition challenged parents to share photos of their children that they “want to keep”.

After one or two parents shared photos of their children with fruit covering their behinds, the craze seemed to catch on and before long thousands of parents were sharing photos doing the same.

The photos are all tagged with a Japanese hashtag, which means peach in English, along with the company’s hashtag, which allows them to enter the competition.

It’s not the only food-related social media craze to sweep Japan [Photo: Instagram/himaneko1103]

This isn’t the first time a food-themed trend has swept social media. Earlier this year, Japanese parents were uploading pictures of their babies arms and legs that had the appearance of a Japanese bread roll.

We can but wonder what the next food-based baby comparison might be?
