Thank goodness for nostalgia, taking us back to a time before the global pandemic and everything suddenly turning into cake on our social media feeds. And this particular dose of nostalgia is an especially good one because it's a Parent Trap reunion. And it's the first one in over 20 years.

The cast and creators of the 1998 version of The Parent Trap got together to film a reunion special to mark today's 22nd anniversary of the iconic film, which aired this morning on Instagram. The one off was filmed in order to raise money for a charity named World Central Kitchen.

The special, which was led by journalist and tv presenter Katie Couric began with an interview with the film's cast and crew, including Dennis Quaid (Nick Parker), Lindsay Lohan (Annie and Hallie), Lisa Ann Walter (Chessy) and the one and only Elaine Hendrix (Meredith Blake).

While the cast spoke about how much fun they had making the film, Dennis Quaid revealed he believed Annie and Hallie were played by two different girls because Lohan's accents were so good, "I actually thought there were two girls, because [her] accent was so perfect."

Meanwhile, Lohan spoke about doing such a big film as her first ever acting role at age 11, "I was so young and it was so fresh to me, it was my first movie audition, my first screen test... I was like a pig in sh*t, I was so excited."

Elaine Hendrix, who played Meredith Blake, spoke about playing the iconic role that has become such a cult favourite, "at the time - yes, she was a nightmare, but Meredith has really come around now, there's a whole generation who thinks Meredith is #goals," she said. "There's an online campaign called #JusticeForMeredithBlake."

Lohan and Quaid also did a reading of the scene in the car when Nick is driving Hallie home from the airport after she returns from camp, and honestly it'll just transport you back instantly... "'lovely girl', 'horrid habit', was it summer camp or finishing school?"

The cast also took time to share memories of Natasha Richardson who played, Elizabeth James, and sadly passed away in 2009. Lohan said of her, "Natasha had such an elegance and grace, and she was so maternal to me."

Honestly, it's all just lovely.
