Palestinians clash with Israeli forces on 70th anniversary of the Nakba (“catastrophe”)

Palestinians clashed with Israeli security forces in the occupied West Bank and at the Israeli-Gaza border in the Gaza Strip, during protests marking the anniversary of the Nakba, or “catastrophe,” when more than 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled in the 1948 war surrounding Israel’s creation. The protests were also a response to the United States’ relocation of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. (Getty Images)
