Aldi has revealed that around 10,500 bottles of its award-winning Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin are sold every day across the UK!

Proving that us Brits really are in love with the juniper-based spirit the budget supermarket confirmed to Good Housekeeping that its award-winning gin is a hit with gin consumers across the country.

"We sell almost 11,000 bottles of our award-winning Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin daily," Julie Ashfield, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi told Good Housekeeping.

"As a result of huge customer demand for gin across the UK, Aldi has launched our biggest ever premium gin range this Christmas, with eight delicious bottles to choose from. We are confident that our new seasonal range will continue to be hugely popular with our customers."

The £9.97 gin, which won Gold at the International Wine and Spirits Competition earlier this year, beat bottles that cost almost six times the price.

"Clean, clear, light fresh gin with well integrated botanicals, spices and juniper," said the judges. "Elegant distillation with traditional feel accommodating complex yet subtle flavours."

And along with the rave reviews, and the fact Aldi now has over 700 stores in the UK now, it's no surprise bargain hunters are snapping up the spirit.

But like Julie said, that's not the only gin Aldi has to offer.

Oliver Cromwell is part of an even larger gin range which now includes Oliver Cromwell sloe gin, Topaz Blue Premium Gin, La Fleuriste French Gin, Gin Lane 1751 Old Tom Gin, Boyle's Premium Irish Small Batch Craft Gin and Needle Blackforest Gin.

And we can't forget Gin Lane 1751 Victoria Pink Gin, which sent shoppers into a frenzy with its 'millenial-pink' hue.

Aldi has also been recently working with Sam Caporn, Master of Wine to come up with some perfect serves for these gins. For the Oliver Cromwell she recommends large lemon slices and black peppercorns.

"This classic gin calls for large slices of lemon due to its stunning citrus notes," she says. "For a burst of colour, serve with black peppercorns – not only will they add visual interest to the drink but they will also highlight the pepper notes."

Time to rush to your local store to stock up for that Christmas party? We think so...
