Outnumbered star Hugh Dennis has shared his ideas for how the show could potentially return.

The actor and comedian has previously expressed keenness to see the hit family sitcom back on screens, having last aired for a Christmas special all the way back in 2016.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Dennis reiterated that he "would love to do more Outnumbered in whatever form", suggesting they could revitalise it with the three kids now looking after the parents.

"Somehow in my head I kind of think we could do it where it's the other way round and they have to look after us," he said. "But we're not quite old enough yet."

The star added: "I really loved doing that show. Indeed I've enjoyed doing almost everything I've done but no, I'd very happily do more Outnumbered."

It echoes previous comments he made last year, where he pitched a return "maybe in 20 years when the children are looking after us. That would be a great format".

The star added that Outnumbered has an appeal as it shows "how difficult it is to bring up kids and what an unholy mess it is, quite often".

"That stuff is confusing and confused. The number of people who have come up to me and said, 'You are basically telling me the story of my own life,'" he added.

It certainly would be good to see the Brockman family back together, especially as the stars have remained close.

Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez, who played children Jake, Ben and Karen, reunited just earlier this year, while Dennis and on-screen wife Claire Skinner have since become a couple in real life.
