The votes have been counted and The Academy has spoken, but what about the dresses? We asked you to tell us who you think was the best dressed actress on the red carpet on Sunday night and the result was quite a surprise. While Jennifer Lawrence grabbed all the headlines due to her big win, big fall and comedy interviews she's been piped to the post in the style stakes by Les Mis star Amanda Seyfried. With nearly 25% of the popular vote, Amanda is officially the Queen of the Oscars red carpet.
Helen Kerr commented on Facebook when she saw Seyfried in her Alexander McQueen gown that this is the 'Best she has ever looked' and Rachael Matthews agreed saying 'This is a wonderful dress it makes her look sexy, sweet and charming and age appropriate perfection!' In fact Amanda wasn't the only one to opt for a bridal look as the trend was also seen on Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra and Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Couture.
Actress Jennifer Lawrence may have come in second, but the Oscar-winner got a lot of support for her Dior Couture dress. Fleur De Lys said’ Two words chic and elegant dress’ while Jessica Moo exclaimed ‘YES YES she looks AMAZING best so far, she gets my vote!’ Her fellow nominee Jessica Chastain also won praise for her Armani Prive gown, which Hazel Fulton described as ‘Old Hollywood glamour at its best’.
Some looks divided your opinion including Amy Adam’s Oscar de la Renta dress. Hannah Toman praised the ‘Beautiful pearlescent grey feathery concoction’, but Hayley N Mo quipped ‘Expect to spot a plucked chicken somewhere at the Oscars!’ You can’t win ‘em all.
The most contencious dress was Anne Hathaway’s Prada number. Sophie Baxer said ‘Loving the hair but it looks like she’s a little cold because her nips are pointy’ and Meshenda Hendrick agreed, ‘She's gorgeous but the cut of the top of that dress is really bad. It doesn't fit properly, reminds me of Gwyneth's badly fitting pink frock years ago!’
So there you have it, the top 10 from Amy Adams to Amanda Seyfried. See all the Oscars 2013 dresses here and let us know if you agree with the order in the comments box below…
