Michelle Obama made a fleeting appearance at the 85th Annual Academy Awards last night.

The First Lady presented the Best Picture award to Argo via video link in a stylish silver frock.

Michelle, 49, donned an on-trend metallic Naeem Khan gown which featured zig-zag panelling and waisted detail.

The First Lady teamed her dress with a pair of Sutra Silver at Fragments silver chandelier earrings and a cluster ring.

Barack Obama’s wife wore her new ‘bangs’ in a straight style and sported a chic up-do.

As Michelle presented the Best Picture award, she praised this year’s nominations, saying they ‘made us laugh, made us weep and [made us] grip our armrests just a little bit tighter.’

But the First Lady wasn’t the only star to wear metallic Naeem Khan at the Oscars last night.

George Clooney’s girlfriend Stacy Keibler wore a similar frock by the same designer as she walked the red carpet with her actor partner.

Stacy, 33, wore a gunmetal grey halterneck gown from the Indian-American designer’s AW13 collection.

The model styled the look with retro waves, Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Michelle and Stacy are bang on this year’s metallic trend that wasn’t just seen on the Naeem Khan AW13 runway.

Julien Macdonald’s AW13 collection at London Fashion Week included glitzy metallic gowns in varying shades of gold, silver and copper.
