Steven Spielberg and his semi-autobiographical film 'The Fabelmans' are among the main contenders at the Academy Awards. The legendary filmmaker will compete for the Best Director gong for the ninth time. Austin Butler's role as Elvis in the biopic about the King of Rock and Roll could earn him an Oscar for Best Actor. Jamie Lee Curtis was gobsmacked to receive her first Oscar nomination for her work in the film 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'. I have always felt very much like an outsider looking in and yet always so grateful for any and all opportunities I have had. Best International Feature
The German war film 'All Quiet On The Western Front' has had lots of recognition during this awards season and is contention for nine Oscars, including Best International Feature. The story depicts the horrors of war from the point of view of 17-year-old soldier Paul Baumer, who joins the Western Front in World War I, only to see his enthusiasm quickly collapse in the face of the harsh realities of life on the battlefield.
