Opera star Russell Watson breaks down in tears after touching message on The One Show
On Monday's episode of The One Show, emotions ran high as Russell Watson was moved to tears. The opera star appeared alongside presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp to reveal his heroic comeback to the music industry following a harrowing fight with two brain tumours.
Russell, who appeared last year on I'm A Celeb... began his interview on a lighter note, joining in with Will Ferrell as he recollected his iconic singing cameo in the comedy film Step Brothers. Opening up about his health battles' long-lasting impact, Russell confessed that even after 25 rounds of radiotherapy in 2008, the challenges persist, sharing with viewers his bout of depression during recovery.
And things emotional when Alex and Roman shared a touching tribute from his consultant, Mr Lackett, which brought the singer to tears, reports the Mirror. Moved by Mr Lackett's words, "17 years on from that brave decision to have the surgery, and look what a glittering career you've had in between," Russell was left visibly touched by the acknowledgement of his resilience since his emergency operation all those years ago.

Roman considerately offered tissues after the emotional clip, allowing Russell a moment to regain his composure, who joked with the hosts, "Why did you do that?". Alex said "Aww", upon seeing Russell wipe away tears. Once he'd collected himself, the singing star reflected, "What a man... and so lovely as well. So down to earth."
Russell, still clearly moved by the encounter, continued his touching tribute, saying: "Just a beautiful human being," and added earnestly, "I will be eternally grateful to him." Opening up about his incredible health journey and musical comeback, Russell has recounted these experiences in his new memoir, Encore, which hits shelves this week.
Speaking to the show's presenters, he couldn't hide his joy about where he is now in life: "I'm singing better than I've ever sung and just loving life," he said.
