The One Show presenter Alex Jones has shared an honest post about facing a "challenging" time in her family.

The TV star took to her Instagram account yesterday (July 27) to post a painting of a lemon, revealing followers had been in touch to check if she was okay after not posting for a little while.

"Things have been a bit tricky for us recently and in all honesty, I haven't had time to be on here between working and the children but I randomly logged on and saw all your lovely messages gently asking if we were all ok," Alex said.

"I was touched by your kindness and so I just wanted to check in and say thank you, and that even though life has been a bit challenging, we are ok and still managing to enjoy the beginning of the holidays and there's still plenty to smile about! (I’ll pop some stuff on my stories) #whenlifegivesyoulemons #thekindnessofstrangers".

Earlier this year, Alex returned to The One Show after going on maternity leave to give birth to her third child, a daughter named Annie.

Speaking during her first episode back in January alongside fellow presenter Jermaine Jenas, the star spoke of her New Year's resolution and anxiety towards leaving the newborn at home.

"Mine, Jermaine, is to be a little bit more relaxed, so today [is my] first official day back from maternity. My husband Charlie [is] on paternity and I need to learn to let go a bit of things at home. Let him do it his way. [It's] tricky," she said.

"You don't seem too happy with Charlie..." Jermaine joked, before Alex replied: "No, no, no, it's all good. A little bit anxious, but yeah it's fine."

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One.
