One Direction stars arrive at Liam Payne funeral as mourners gather to pay respects
One Direction stars are among the mourners in attendance at the funeral of Liam Payne who will be laid to rest today (November 20) more than a month after his tragic death. Liam died aged 31 on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
The funeral, which is being held in Amersham, England, is also attended by his family and friends, with girlfriend Kate Cassidy also in attendance. Fans from across the globe have continued to hold vigils in memory of Liam following his death however the funeral is reported to be private.
Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan and Zayn Malik were all in attendance at the ceremony. All four of Liam's former bandmates wore black suits as they attended the ceremony and headed straight inside the church. Harry Styles arrived with Gavin & Stacey star James Cordon while Niall arrived with his girlfriend. Zayn and Louis appeared to arrive together. You can follow our updates on the funeral here.

Liam died of multiple traumas and “internal and external haemorrhage”, a post-mortem examination report said. An investigation has been launched into his death by prosecutors, and three people have been charged in connection with the incident.

The funeral, held on November 20, will be a private ceremony for family and close friends of Liam. Fans have been asking each other to stay away from the church. Cheryl, mother to Liam's seven-year-old son Bear, is also anticipated to be present at the funeral today while Girls Aloud singers Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh are also in attendance.
It is understood the funeral is set to take place at 1pm. Floral tributes have been placed around the church including of one of bowling pins which was reportedly one of Liam's passions ahead of the service.
Liam's girlfriend Kate Cassidy was seen arriving at the funeral earlier this afternoon. She had been in Argentina with Liam before his death but left days before the tragedy.
Liam rose to fame alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan when Simon Cowell put them together to form One Direction on ITV talent show The X Factor in 2010. Following the band's hiatus in 2015, Wolverhampton-born Liam went on to launch a successful solo career, releasing his debut solo album LP1 in December 2019 which included the songs Polaroid and Strip That Down featuring Quavo.
In a joint statement last month, One Direction said: "We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."
