Alongside the incredible red carpet dresses, the Oscars also always serves up new hair inspiration.

This year was no different as Charlize Theron opted for a hidden hair accessory that completely elevated her pixie cut, while Saoirse Ronan debuted a micro-fringe.

But the most dramatic red carpet transformation of the night went to The Crown's former Queen, Olivia Colman.

Colman swapped her signature short black style – last seen at the BAFTAs a week ago – for a peroxide blonde pixie cut that made us do a double-take as she prepared to present an award at the Dolby Theatre in LA.

The Fleabag star's new hair wasn't the only talking point because we loved her dress, too.

Cut from blue velvet, it featured cut-out shoulder detailing and a short train with a contrasting white lining.

Colman presented the best actor accolade to Joker star Joaquin Phoenix. Before she did so, she quipped that 2019's Academy Awards was 'the best night of my husband's life'. And not just because she took home her own golden statue for her performance in The Favourite.

'He actually says that, and I've given birth three times,' she joked as the audience lapped up her overshare.
