NTA viewers left baffled after they spot embarrassing blunder

NTA viewers were left baffled half an hour into the event, when an embarrassing blunder saw an unexpected picture of Peter Ash, who played Paul Foreman in Coronation Street, flash up on screen, completely out of the blue.

There was no dry eye in sight on Monday night when Paul sadly lost his battle with MND, with his husband Billy tragically not making it to the hospital in time to say goodbye to his husband. Although Peter did win an award for his incredible performance, his picture may showed up on screen slightly too early. Blink and you’d have miss it, but eagle-eyed viewers on X, formerly known as Twitter, didn’t. When the nominations for Best Reality Competition Show were being read out, and a clip from Race Across The World was being shown, a still of Peter in his role at Corrie was accidentally placed on screen.

Fans took to Twitter to comment on the slip up, as one penned: “not the still of Paul from corrie?? [skull emojis].

“Why was Paul on my screen there?” questioned one confused fan, whilst a third wrote: “[laughing emojis] why did a dying Paul just pop up on our screens? calm down itv.”

“Nice of them lads who Won Race Across The World to laugh at Paul dying on Coronation Street,” a fourth said, as another penned: “did we all just get jump scared by paul?”

It was The Traitors who went on to win the award for Best Reality Competition, while Peter went on to take home the award for serial drama performance for his heart wrenching MND storyline, which came to a tragic end earlier this week. Speaking on his win, Peter said it was an “amazing way” to end his time on the soap opera.

Collecting the prize at the award ceremony in London, he said: “This is honestly incredible – what an amazing way to end my six years on Coronation Street,” as he thanked the team on the ITV soap, with a special shout out to Daniel Brocklebank, who played his on-screen husband Billy Mayhew, as he said he “couldn’t of wished for anyone better to have done this storyline with”.

Previously speaking on Peter’s exit to OK! and other media outlets, Daniel said: "I’ve just missed Pete. I’ve not had Pete to have breakfast with every morning and giggle our way through the day. It’s all those little bits of the day I don’t get to do anymore."
