They are very few people out there who can say they've worn an Oscar de la Renta dress on their wedding day.

But there's only one woman in the world who can claim to have worn one of the last wedding gowns the Dominican fashion designer designed before his death.

That woman is human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.

For her lavish Italian wedding to George Clooney in 2014, the new mother-of-two wore an off-the-shoulder, ivory beaded-tulle 'Oscar' dress with an exaggerated veil, less than a month before the famous fashion designer passed away.

And now the iconic dress is on display at 'The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta' exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in Houston, Texas.

Fashion legend André Leon Talley, who curated the exhibit, told WWD: 'It's on loan from Mrs. Clooney, but we have been very anxious to have that dress for so long.'

'We wanted it [for last year's Oscar de la Renta retrospective at San Francisco's de Young museum], but Mrs. Clooney reached me through her assistant to say that she felt it was too early to have her dress in an exhibit after she married [George Clooney].'

The exhibition will also feature pieces on loan from the likes of Beyoncé - who was born and raised in Houston - and Annette de la Renta (the wife of the late designer).

'It's about beauty,' Talley said of the curation. 'A celebration of this great man's life and I think it's quite inspiring and wonderful.'

We couldn't agree more.

'The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta' exhibition opened on 8 October.
