For some reason my heart always skips a beat when Rihanna hits us with a drastic hair switch-up. It shouldn't be a surprise - she's spent her career changing it up with raspberry red and Ribena colours, trying out everything from pixie crops to XXL waves to undercuts and beyond.

In the last year or so Riri's main transformations, hair-wise, came in the form of a gorgeous layered 70s fringe, and a gorgeous mullet. That would have been enough to prove her braveness credentials when it comes to hair switch-ups, but today she's taken it a step further, debuting what is probably her most extreme look yet: slime green highlights woven into a truly fierce short mullet. And, to be honest, I'm utterly obsessed.

If Billie Eilish springs to mind when you look at the pictures below, you're not alone - I'm also sensing a serious nod to Billie's old grunge look (which, ICYMI, was actually created sort of by accident...).

Billie also had a bit of a transformation lately, going platinum blonde ahead of her incredible shoot with Vogue UK (the result of a rigorous hair-bleaching process which, mind-blowingly, involved slowly going blonde while wearing a wig-replica of her green and black mullet in public!).

But back to Riri. She looks absolutely gorgeous in these images, and I'm willing to bet money she's going to start a brand new slime-mullet trend. Her mullet is wispier than before, with a face-framing microfringe and tapered sides. The hair is paired with barely-there brows, graphic liner, nude lips and gradient nails which, incidentally, I'm screengrabbing for my next mani appointment.

You can check out the look in the below post, which Badgalriri captioned "new. new. @vogueitalia".
