The memories just come flooding back; cornflake cake, crumble and custard, tapioca pudding, chocolate cake with chocolate custard, or better... pink custard. British primary school puddings were the saving grace of lunch time, and one of these classics is having a real moment in lockdown.

School dinner cake. Yes that's the one, you know, the fluffy sponge with glistening white icing and rainbow sprinkles that made lumpy mash and boiled veg all worth it?

It's been trending in lockdown as people started searching for this delight from their youth, and now it's all we can think about.

Even This Morning had chef Juliet Sear whip them up a whole batch of the cake and it looks divine. The video shows it in it's full glory, and we can even spy custard!

And Waitrose posted its recipe for the cake on the very same day.

Calling it: "A light and fluffy nostalgic bake topped with glossy white icing and iconic hundreds and thousands."

With the added tip: "To make it that little bit more colourful, mix 4-5 tablespoons of hundreds and thousands into the cake batter just before tipping into the tin."
