We were warned to expect a surprise guest star, but nothing could have prepared us for the arrival of Fleabag's Hot Priest, who joined Marianne and Connell for a church confessional collab. And of course it all centred around Connell's chain. A match made in heaven if there ever was one.
Normal People stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones teamed up with Fleabag's Andrew Scott for the sketch in aid of RTE's Comic Relief in Ireland, with the filming taking place at a social distance due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The comedy sketch saw Connell sit down for a church confessional with the unnamed Hot Priest, before Marianne came in to confess to stealing Connell's iconic chain, with the two of them unknowingly on either side of the confessional booth.
Speaking about the sketch on Twitter, Paul wrote, "'Well this happened! @daisyedgarjones and Andrew are absolute legends. In the hands of Lenny and @suziecine, what is life ❤️. Thank you to element and @emeraoshea. Please, please please donate x.'
The episode also rather randomly ended with the trio singing Boyzone's Baby Can I Hold You Tonight, so that's something.
But the fun didn't stop there. Paul and Daisy treated us to an extra sketch which imagined Connell and Marianne's life together 40 years in the future, with Connell whipping up some beans on toast for Marianne one night followed by the two of them engaging in a characteristically deep AF conversation.
More of this please, guys!
