Nordstrom drops Ivanka Trump's brand from stores

From Harpers Bazaar UK

Ivanka Trump's clothing and accessory line appears to have been removed from Nordstrom's website, sparking speculation that the retailer has finally cut ties with the increasingly controversial brand.

As of Thursday, Ivanka Trump is no longer included on Nordstrom's master-list of available brands, and the page that previously featured her products is a broken link.

This quiet removal may have been a long time coming – Business Insider reports that inventory levels on Ivanka Trump products have been steadily declining over the past months, with 71 products available in December, and just 26 as of last week. Nordstrom did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In the run-up to the presidential election last autumn, many retailers including Nordstrom were put under pressure to stop selling Ivanka Trump branded products, with many consumers boycotting the store. At the time, Nordstrom's co-president Pete Nordstrom refused to drop Trump's line, saying: "We strive to be agnostic about politics and to treat all our customers with respect."

Trump drew criticism over the weekend for an insensitive Instagram post in which she posed happily in eveningwear with husband Jared Kushner, seemingly unaware of the humanitarian crisis and worldwide protests that were developing in the wake of her father's refugee ban.
