Nissan Envisions Work-From-Anywhere Van With Retractable Office Pod And Rooftop Deck

·2-min read

Nissan has conceptualised the work-from-anywhere trend with the reveal of a brand new concept vehicle that doubles as a mini office pod.

The NV350 Caravan Office Pod is an adaptable vehicle that provides plenty of room for working while on the go. The project sees a NV350 van retrofitted with a smartphone-controlled retractable workspace that extends outwards from the back of van should the owner fancy working in the fresh air.

Complete with a contemporary workstation that can fit a desktop computer and even a Herman Miller office chair, the concept allows occupants to work anywhere, according to their own working style. A WiFi hotspot, an electric coffee maker, and electric sunshades all help to provide the conveniences of a modern office without the stuffiness of conditioned space.

The workspace even includes a transparent polycarbonate floor so that you can feel connected to your outdoor surroundings. Once you have finished working in your office pod, you can climb up to the luxurious roof deck to unwind. The front of the van has backlight carpeted floor mats that glow in the dark, an electric sunshade and a glove box complete with a UV antibacterial lamp.

Nissan says: "The NV350 Caravan, a business van for true professionals, is combined with the office pod, which allows you to work at your favourite place according to your free working style.

"The exterior features front and rear over-fenders and body graphics to express an all-rounder that can handle both on-road and off-road. For the interior, the office can be stored in the car in the city to create a private and safe space, and in nature, the office can be pulled out from the back gate to create a spacious and open space."

Nissan exhibited the concept at the virtual 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon - one of the world's biggest custom car shows.
