Nicole Kidman delves into Chanel archives for stunning 2023 Met Gala look
Nicole Kidman delved into the Chanel archives for her look for the 2023 Met Gala.
The Australian actress wowed the crowd when she stepped out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday night in a blush pink gown with delicate beading and a flowing train.
In an interview for Vogue, Nicole revealed that the stunning Karl Lagerfeld-designed number was the same one she wore in No. 5 the Film - an extended TV commercial directed by Baz Luhrmann in 2004 that promoted the luxury brand's popular Chanel No. 5 perfume.
Reflecting on her friendship with Karl, the Moulin Rouge! star noted that she couldn't think of a better way to honour the German couturier at the event, which had the theme of Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.
"I have the most indelible memories of fittings with Karl in the atelier, and I loved witnessing his dedication to his craft," she told the outlet. "I remember his laugh when he first sketched the dress and handed me the sketch. He always made me laugh. He designed a number of dresses for me, but I think this is the most spectacular."
In addition, Nicole described how Karl loved to see her in pale pink.
"I remember he made me a pink dress for the Oscars one year," the 55-year-old continued. "When he designed, he always loved to see me in the palest of pink."
Other celebrities to make serious style statements at the 2023 Met Gala includes Olivia Wilde, who dazzled in a cream and gold Chloé gown inspired by a 1983 look, and Florence Pugh, who rocked a strapless white silk taffeta number with black silk chiffon bow detail from Valentino.
The Little Women actress, who wore a black feather crown atop her freshly shaved head for the night, accessorised the dramatic ensemble with stacks of diamond bracelets.
