Nicole Kidman almost suffers a wardrobe malfunction (but still looks statuesque)

If you wear something daring, you’d better be prepared for possible sharing. And Nicole Kidman almost shared a lot on Wednesday night at the premiere of her new film, Lion.

Kidman wore a gorgeous Armani Privé black silk velvet dress embroidered with black crystals to the premiere at the 60th BFI London Film Festival. The glamorous gown also boasted chest cutouts with bow-tie closures, and pockets. But the problem didn’t stem from these features. The skirt had an unconventional center slit that extended thigh-high, showing off her long legs and black ankle-tie pumps. Unfortunately it was a windy night in London Town, and Kidman nearly lost control of the gown at one point; she had to hold down her skirt to avoid having a wardrobe malfunction as she posed for photos with co-star Dev Patel.

In most of the photos, she kept her arms close to her thighs in case of a sudden burst of air — Kidman refused to have a Marilyn Monroe moment. Of course, she was still the epitome of composure and elegance even as she walked the red carpet with her palms firmly planted at her sides, with a glowing smile on her face and her lips painted red. Nothing could throw this statuesque beauty off; she probably still would have looked perfect had her dress flown up.

But we don’t blame her for wanting to show some skin. Earlier this year, Kidman was spotted at Balmoral Beach in Sydney looking fit and flawless while taking an early morning dip in the sea. Kidman, 49, went makeup-free and rocked an itty-bitty floral two-piece, which showed off her toned tummy, defined arms, and slender legs. If we looked that good at nearly 50 years old, we’d wear bikinis and dresses with thigh-high slits all the time.
